After a decades-long career in education and leadership, Jen Willis has shifted her focus to supporting workplaces in enhancing organisational wellness and performance. She does this through the development of customised wellbeing assessments, action plans, and future-proofing strategies for wellbeing.
Jen brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and formal qualifications to her work. She holds a Master of Positive Psychology, an MBA (Leadership), and a Master of Education, among other degrees, and has earned certifications in Social and Emotional Intelligence Coaching, Narrative Practices, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Her career and studies have taken her across the globe, with time spent living and working in Australia, the USA, Vietnam, and South Korea. Now based on the Mornington Peninsula, south of Melbourne, Australia, Jen continues to channel her passion into her work.
Jen’s deep interest in wellbeing comes from her longstanding commitment to helping leaders, teachers, and students thrive. Her personal dedication to health and wellness also drives her mission to support people in living their best lives, even when faced with challenging circumstances. Living with Multiple Sclerosis herself, Jen has achieved remarkable feats, including being the only Australian with MS to have climbed Mt Everest. A portion of all proceeds from her work is directed towards MS research.
Outside of work, Jen is a loving mum to three young adults. When not busy supporting the wellbeing of people and organisations, she can usually be found outdoors or enjoying a mug of chai.
Why a Wellbeing Strategy Grounded in Positive Psychology Should Be Central to Your Business Success Strategy
Imagine a workplace where people genuinely care about each other, where there’s a strong sense of community, and where gratitude is part of daily life. That’s the kind of culture that not only makes people thrive but also drives real business success. At its heart, employee wellbeing is about creating an environment where people feel connected, supported, and inspired—not just to perform but to truly flourish.
Positive psychology, often called the science of wellbeing, gives us a powerful framework to achieve this. The PERMAH model—which stands for Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment, and Health—helps organisations understand and nurture the elements that allow people to thrive at work. These aren’t just abstract concepts—they are essential building blocks for a healthy, engaged workforce. When employees experience strong relationships, meaningful work, and a sense of accomplishment, it transforms the workplace into a community where people feel a true sense of belonging.
That feeling of belonging is key to long-term success. When employees feel part of something bigger than themselves, they become more motivated, innovative, and committed. Cultivating a culture where gratitude and appreciation are openly expressed builds loyalty and trust, making employees more engaged and productive. Gratitude, in particular, strengthens relationships and creates a positive atmosphere, which in turn lifts performance across the board.
By embedding the principles of positive psychology and wellbeing into your business strategy, you’re not just ticking a box—you’re building a thriving organisation. Employees who feel valued and supported are healthier, more resilient, and more loyal, which reduces turnover and absenteeism. More than that, they become active participants in driving your organisation’s success forward.
Prioritising wellbeing is an investment in the long-term health of your business. It fosters a sense of community, encourages personal growth, and creates an environment where everyone can contribute to something meaningful. When you make wellbeing central to your business strategy, you’re not just improving performance—you’re building a culture where people want to belong. And that’s when everyone wins.
